Family Look: Holidays are coming

galina thomas and katerina thomas

Me: jacket - LK Bennett / trousers - Zara / top - Whistles / shoes - Christian Louboutin
Katerina: top - Childrensalon / shorts - Childrensalon / shoes - Age of Innocence

EN: It's only one month left till Christmas. Are you surprised how quick this year went? I know, I know, March seemed to last forever but all of a sudden November is coming to an end.

It's some sort of a tradition now when we sum up the year. Some people might call it the worst year, but I experienced some truly magical moments. Like being at home every night to read with Katerina and get her ready for bed, or picking her up from school every day and listening how her day went. Or rediscovering why I fell in love with Gareth in the first place by going out litter picking :) Sounds bizarre right? But it's an act of kindness without expecting anything in return, it's a feeling to do what's right, the social conscience. And the most magical moments of all is my Doc discharging me from the hospital. It was a real physical and mental roller coaster. But the saying 'Time heals' has never been so accurate. My lung return to a decent capacity without any surgical interference is my personal  highlight of the year.

Oh, and I'm still getting used to my new MacBook. I'm trying to work out how everything works, especially how to resize the photographers without loosing the quality. So 'Hooray' to my first post using the new laptop

Look of the Day: Polka Dot

Skirt - CHICWISH / Corset - Karen Millen / Jacket - Shopbop / Shoes - Christian Louboutin / Bag - Chanel

EN: My favourite compliment isn't related to my face, it's about the softness of my hands. I think it comes from my childhood when I was closing my eyes and my mum was stroking my face and hair. I swear it's the best feeling in the world - feeling mum's soft hands. And this is exactly what I want Katerina to remember about me, the softness of my hands. It's actually not very difficult to achieve. Use the gloves when you are washing up dishes or ask your husband to do it instead, keep a good level of hydration and always use hand cream. I always use all sorts of body oils after having a shower, I apply it first and last thing of the day, I also always cary a small cream tab so I can use it during the day. It's my obsession but it's not a bad one.
And all of the above was to remind you that your legs are just as important as your hands. Lotions, creams and oils is a must! I think you will agree that it's an important component of a good looking lady.

In-between cream applications I enjoy the last warm days in the UK. Next time I'm going to wear boots instead of my favourite court shoes. I know that this elegant skirt is going to look fabulous with sweaters and tall boots and it's going to be a lovely addition to all my autumn, winter, spring and summer looks :)) Very versatile, like a fashion chameleon!

Look of the Day: Minimalism or Not

Dress - CHICWISH / Shoes - Christian Louboutin / Scarf - Versace / Bag - Chanel

EN: I've watched a short documentary on Netflix called "Minimalist'. I am not to be called one and I the main characters in this documentary weren't very charismatic or convincing but I still found it really interesting. The main idea of this documentary was to point out that we can't stop buying things, we buy at least 1 fashion item a week and our houses turn into dumpsters. And the main problem is we don't experience joy when we get what we thought we wanted.

I really get it, I work in retail and sometimes I want to reject selling things to certain people. I don't want to sell things to them because they don't take time to think, they are in a rush and they don't enjoy the process of choosing and the result of getting the item.

I am not against buying things we want (not the things we need), but we should make the most out of it. Don't buy something if you don't know what to wear it with, don't buy something you can only wear once, don't buy something of poor quality. Invest in something what compliments and brings something different to your wardrobe, buy something you can style few different ways for different occasions, buy something what's going to last and mainly look after it! Buy something what makes you happy and excited!

I love getting a new knit dress every season. Something you can wear with court shoes and tall boots, something soft and warm, something timeless but with a twist. This dress from Chicwish has it all. If you watch my stories on Instagram, you saw how well it goes with my tall nude boots. Bring it all autumn!

Look of the Day: Heritage Check

Jacket - CHICWISH / Trousers - Asos / Top - Asos / Bag - Prada / Shoes - Christian Louboutin / Belt - Gucci

EN: Let's talk about Fast Fashion, Throw Away Fashion, It dresses/bags/shoes.

We like to blame brands with affordable prices for creating a throw away fashion. But the only people to blame is us. We are the ones who are buying them and literally throwing them away after few washes/ wears. Because a button fell off, sticking came undone, it's not on trend anymore, everyone has it and million other silly excuses.

I'm proudly saying that today I'm dressed in mass market and what's most important my clothes top and trousers are about 4 years old. I look after it, I style it in different ways, I wear it. The same is going to happen to this new lovely jacket. It's not very expensive, but it's well made and I know I can make loads of looks out of it.

The same with my accessorise, Prada bag is 7 or 8 years old, perfect Louboutin shoes are about 5 years old. My Gucci belt and Chanel earnings are reasonably new but I already wore them more than 30 times in different variations and I'm going to re-use it for many years to come.

It doesn't matter how much your things cost, just always look after them, repair them rather than throwing them away, find ways to create new looks using your existing wardrobe and mix your new purchases with what you already have.

Heritage Check is trending right now, but it never went out of fashion and never will. It's the base of your smart casual wardrobe.

Here's an example how I re-styled the same trousers. Hopefully I will share more ways how to style my new heritage check jacket. Stay tuned xxx

p.s. I've just noticed I used the same belt everywhere as well

Family Look : Lion King

Katerina is wearing a dress by CHILDREN SALON, shoes by Children's Classic

I am wearing a dress by Karen Millen, shoes by Christian Louboutin

EN: We have come a long way :) Eight years ago I moved to the UK and for the first year me and Gareth were exploring every corner of this beautiful island. The very first show we went to watch together in London was 'The Lion King'. 'Woooooow' I was screaming inside my head, looking at Gareth and enjoying the moment.
I realised that these moments are so precious because I have him to share them with. This is exactly how I want to carry on with my life, sharing and seizing moments with my loved ones.

It was one of my dreams to watch The Lion King with my child. I wanted to see my child's smile and eyes full of pure joy. And I'm grateful that everything came to life just the way I imagined and wished for. To be honest, it got even better! I took my Mum and Katerina to watch the show with me. I felt so privileged to watch the show with my two precious ladies.

The next wish on my list is 'quality time'. It's hard to take the whole day off work, switch off from emails, not answer calls and to just be fully present in the moment. It's a true luxury nowadays. I am still working on it but it would be my ultimate happiness to wake up late, have breakfast together, dress to impress, brush my hair, put some makeup on, drive to a stunning hotel for an early afternoon tea, chat over a cup of tea, walk through the city to the concert venue and simply enjoy each others company.

By the way, how do you like our effort on 'dress to impress'? Katerina is wearing an extremely pretty dress by CHILDREN SALON  and golden pumps by Children's Classic. I want Katerina to believe that there are some moments in life when you need to make an effort. The theatre, a classical music concert and ballet are part of our life but not an every day routine. We should embrace and fully enjoy the experience <3

Look of the Day: Reflection

Dress - CHICWISH / Shoes - Christian Louboutin / Trench - Ted Baker

EN: Who else is excited for Chelsea Flower Show? I made Gareth to take a day off work. My pretty city London will be covered in blooming flowers and installations. I seriously can't wait.

Meanwhile here, back in Birmingham, I'm thinking about how lucky I am with my friends. The other day me and Yana were travelling to London for a day out. When she picked me up from a train station there was a packed breakfast for me in the car. She knows me so well! Every morning I'm leaving my house in a rush, skipping breakfast and forgetting to charge my phone. This time wasn't exception, I didn't have my breakfast. And my friend's made a sandwich for me so I don't have to starve :))

One more fun fact about me & Yana, we are the same size in clothes. So sometimes we exchange dresses. I've told you, I'm lucky with my friends xxx

And please take a minute to appreciate this gorgeous dress. I think it's so Dior! Love the beautiful scallop front and a pretty bow on my waste.

Look of the Day: Candy floss

Dress - CHICWISH / Shoes - Christian Louboutin / Bag - Chanel

EN: Christmas is officially over but I'm not taking my decorations down (sorry not sorry). January and February are winter months and I need some sparkle and glitter to get me through it.
January also turned out to be my Birthday month so dresses, feathers and high heels are staying :) By the way, how pretty is this dress!? I've uploaded higher resolution so you can see all the details. Check out the black strips on the dress and beautiful embroidery on the sleeves.
